Structural Bodywork Course "The Core" - Back-Pelvis Segments presented by James Hackett July 26, 2008 ~ Cadaver Prosection, “The Core” August 1 & August 2, 2008 ~ Hands-on Bodywork
This seminar will focus on the postural alignment between the low back and the pelvis, and the postural distortions which commonly contribute to chronic pain patterns in our clients. Structural Bodywork begins with the assessment of postural alignment and accurately determining the relative balance/imbalance between the major muscle groups of the back, hips and thighs. Based on this assessment, a session is designed applying myofascial release techniques and therapeutic stretching, including PNF and MET (muscle energy techniques). By understanding and releasing structural patterns in the body, this bodywork approach becomes very effective in realignment. A further component of the approach is specific stretching, strengthening, and functional exercises which are given to the client to further enhance and stabilize their alignment. This seminar is the first in a series and the first day of this 3 day training will include a Cadaver Prosection Class with Bryan Avery of the Hawaiian Institute of Anatomy, The Core Segment, Saturday, July 26 from 9am-5pm.
- A presentation of the postural imbalances of the pelvis including anterior and lateral tilt and rotations - a practical method for assessing the pelvis in 3 planes
- Body reading and postural analysis, providing the therapist with the tools to “see” postural deviations, and understand the role of specific muscles in these patterns
- Strategies & session design for release and alignment
- Hands-on practice and supervision
- Technique approach integrating myofascial release, TP therapy and therapeutic stretching
- Manual on theory, technique, and anatomy
- Therapeutic, Core and functional exercises to enhance flexibility and alignment.
- Deepen your working knowledge of anatomy & kinesiology enabling you to more effectively treat postural conditions and chronic back and hip pain
