MSTM FACULTY
The Maui School of Therapeutic Massage provides a rich and supportive learning environment and is committed to excellence and innovation in its curriculum. All of our instructors are skilled healthcare professionals with extensive training, clinical practice and teaching experience. We are committed to supporting you in body, mind, and spirit as you develop the skills and confidence to step gracefully onto a meaningful new career path.
James Hackett, LMT, is the owner and Director of MSTM. He teaches Anatomy and Physiology, Neuromuscular Therapy, Treatment of Common Conditions, and Advanced Certification Programs. Jim has over 30 years of experience as a massage therapist and teacher. He founded the Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 1981 where he served as Director of Education and an instructor for 17 years. He has been involved in the profession at the national level, serving as the Chairman of the American Massage Therapy Association Council of Schools for three years
He is certified in Neuromuscular Therapy, Sports and Orthopedic Massage, Structural Bodywork, the Rolf Method of Structural Integration, Trager Pschophysical Integration, Jin Shin Do Acupressure. He has taught advanced therapeutic massage techniques internationally and produced his own training videos and manuals

 Raphiell Nolin, LMT, teaches Hydrotherapy, Sports Massage, Massage Technique, Outreach, Business, and is a Clinical Instructor He specializes in Spa Treatments and Orthopedic Sports Massage. Raphiell brings 20 years of experience working in hotel spas and multidisciplinary clinics with chiropractors and physical therapists.

Jackie "Kapua" Tyler, MSW, LMT, has been a student & practitioner of Hawaiian healing arts for over 20 years. Her background includes studying Hawaiian herbal healing with Kahu Kapi'ioho Naone & with Dr. Maka'ala Yates, DC. She currently practices at a clinic specializing in rehabilitative work for injuries and is a senior therapist at a spa. Jeana Iwalani Naluai, MPT, LMT, is a native Hawaiian committed to perpetuating her culture through the healing arts. Jeana is currently a licensed Physical Therapist and Massage Therapist, as well as a certified Clinical Lomi Lomi instructor in the lineage of Aunty Margaret Machado and Dr. Maka’ala Yates. Jeana is the owner of Hale Ho’omana Spa Retreat in Makawao where she runs her private practice and opens her retreat space to all modalities encouraging education in universal consciousness.

Kurt Miyajima, LMT, is a certified Tai Chi, Chi Gung, & Longevity Breathing instructor on island with over 29 years of study & training. He has taught publicly on Maui since 1991 for various groups & private organizations ranging from luxury resorts to state funded organizations medical clinics & groups, senior communities, spiritual groups, as well as private tutoring. He has performed in numerous public demonstrations, for private organizations, and has made several television appearances.

Rayna Strike, LMT, teaches Massage Technique and is a Clinical Instructor. She has practiced and taught in the healing arts on Maui and abroad for the past 16 yrs. Specializing in Therapeutic and Energetic Bodywork she combines compassionate, intuitive touch with technical expertise. Rayna has sought to broaden her know-ledge by studying with Master Teachers from around the world. She is trained and certified in many modalities of the healing arts and carries the lineage of a long line of healers.

Nina Cherry, CHT, has been a Certified Hakomi Therapist for 20 years. She has been leading trainings for psychotherapists, massage therapists and bodyworkers, and healthcare professionals since 1984. She is a Counselor and Life Coach at the school and teaches Professional Ethics and Communication Skills.

Beatrix Sullivan, CPT, is MSTM’s resident personal trainer. Her background includes many forms of dance, martial arts, yoga, and sports and in college she majored in Physical Education as well as English and Secondary Education. She also has a background in Social Work and has been practicing meditation for over 25 years, which is another component of her holistic approach to keeping the body, mind, and spirit working in harmony. With her focus on the particular needs of massage therapists, both in terms of self-care and client-care, she brings to MSTM students an additional component of knowledge and support as they begin their careers as massage therapists. Beatrix is a core teacher in MSTM’s Bodymind Fitness and Wellness Programs.
